Keloid Disease Worldwide

The Keloid Academy is working to change lives by helping people affected with keloids make informed decisions through education and awareness, and by creating a community to advance research and innovation in the field. We hope you’ll join us as we work toward a keloid-free future.

In the United States, there are more than 450,000 clinic visits each year for keloid disease. Black people between the ages of 10 and 30 have the greatest risk of developing a keloid.

The incidence of keloid disease in affected groups ranges from 4.5 to 16%. Worldwide, more than 250 million people are at risk of developing keloids.

Keloid disease causes itching, infection, decreased movement and chronic pain. It has been linked to anxiety and depression in individuals.
